Hi Mary,

I’m sorry that you were not properly informed of this prior to putting down your rugs. The good news is that it is a pretty easy fix. Apply dry heat to the area; the most effective method is to use a heat gun. Keep the gun 8 inches above the deck surface and use a continuous movement. Be sure not to scorch the deck surface. This should restore the surface appearance.

If you have any more questions, please call us at 1-800-558-8984. Thanks for your question!

I just found out that rubber mats are a bad match for the decking -- I've been trying to figure out what had discolored the decking around my back doors and read this. Would have been great to have a more clear warning sooner.

Now that the damage is done, is there anything that can be done?
thanks,
Mary

How were the boards prepared for this bench? The ends appear to be rounded over, rather than simply cut-off square. Thank you.

PVC decking is fantastic. It's a great alternative to normal wooden deck boards, and is far more hard-wearing. It's especially popular here in the UK. Great post.

Some other companies use "polyethylene" and polypropylene". Why do you use PVC (polyvinylchloride?) instead?

@Jim Glover - Thank you for your interest in Gossen! If you go to our "Where to Buy" section, you should find a list of dealers and contractors in your area. Most dealers have displays you can look at and samples to pick up. Contractors are also usually very happy to show current installations to prospective buyers. Our Design Build section also features beautiful installation pictures. Let us know if there's anything else we can do!
