Gossen and Flemming Mortorspots Team Up

Gossen is a growing brand in the world and one of the largest growth regions is Canada. Gossen and Flemming Motorsports have teamed up to keep the Gossen identity front and center with their fans.

Driver John Flemming's racing career has included many honours and victories. In 1998 he was voted by his fellow drivers as the winner of the Debbie Hallahan Memorial Trophy for the most sportsmanlike driver. The '99 season included five feature wins. The '00 season saw John win the New England Pro Stock Association Rookie of the Year title and visit Victory Lane in the prestigious Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld. 2001 saw John as a part-time competitor and two-time winner on the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour.

Number 97 car is built from the ground up for stock car racing. A special chassis and high performance parts are used to ensure both performance and safety. Building rules are governed by the sanctioning series or event promoters. Pre and post race technical inspections by event staff ensure each team plays by the rules.

Relatively speaking, compared to your street car, number 97 car rides on "slick" tires, i.e. no tread. Our engines are 8-cylinder and are either "crate" or specially built; a "crate" engine is a high performance motor available from the manufacturer, generally with less horsepower but more torque than a specially built race motor. Our engines usually make more than 500 horsepower.

The driver's compartment is built for safety. It is entirely surrounded by a steel roll cage. The seat is a form-fit for the driver and often wraps around his sides with a headrest that holds his head firmly in place in case of impact. Many drivers also wear a head and neck restraint to help avoid a whiplash. The driver is held in the seat with a five-point harness. The driver wears a flame-retardant suit, shoes and gloves as well a helmet, in most cases full face.

The 2011 racing season went well for John and his team. Check out his 2011 Race & Results page at www.flemmingmotorsports.ca/races.html
